Answers to questionsthat others also ask

BI-to-SaaS is a partnership program where BI-Asiantuntijat develops a Power BI template on top of a SaaS company's product. The template enables easy data analysis and reporting for customers without expensive development projects.
Even though your product already includes reporting, customers often want to combine SaaS data with other data sources, share reports with people who don't use the SaaS product, centralize all reports in one place (Power BI), leverage Power BI's advanced analytics features, and customize reporting and develop their own calculations.
Template development typically takes 1-2 months depending on data complexity, reporting scope, API integration requirements, and subject matter complexity.
Your SaaS product must have an API or data warehouse that the customer can access (possibly for an additional fee). With the Template model, the customer needs a Power BI Pro or Premium license. With the Hosted model, the customer does not need their own Power BI license — BIAS handles the hosting.
Yes. The template is designed to be customizable. Customers can add their own data sources, modify visualizations, create new report pages, customize colors and appearance, create their own measures, or hire us for deeper customizations.
The template is not directly integrated into your SaaS product. Instead, it retrieves data via API or file export, works as an independent Power BI solution, can be branded to match your company, and is included as part of your sales process.
Yes. The collaboration is completely risk-free for the SaaS company: No initial investments, no fixed costs, and you only pay from sold template sales.
The template typically improves customer retention because customers get more value from their data, invest time in customizing the template, and reporting makes the SaaS product a more critical part of their processes.
The template price is typically 500-2500 EUR per customer, which is about 60-70% cheaper than building custom reporting. The exact price can be estimated at the start of the collaboration.
Yes. We create a demo version of the template that you can use in sales presentations, webinars, commercial negotiations, and customer PoC phases.
Yes. The template receives free bug fixes for the first year, minor feature updates, improvements with new Power BI versions, and the option to purchase significant upgrades separately.
The collaboration can start quickly: first meeting within a week, project definition in 1-2 weeks, development start in 2-3 weeks, and the first version is ready in 1-2 months.
We need API documentation, sample data, access to a demo environment, brand guidelines, and a project lead from your side to plan the overall solution.
A traditional consultancy charges hourly or per-project fees and builds one-off reports. BI4SaaS offers productized white-label reporting as a partnership: we develop a scalable report template that you resell to your customers. There are no hourly fees — you keep 50–80% of sales revenue. We also handle maintenance and continuous development. We also offer custom BI consulting for companies that need tailored solutions.
It depends on the service model. With the Hosted model, the end customer does not need their own Power BI license — we host the reports and the customer gets a shareable link or embedded view. With the Template model, the customer needs a Power BI Pro or Premium license since the report is deployed in their own environment.
Reports are fully branded to match your company's visual identity. Colors, logos, fonts, and styles are dynamically customized per customer. The end customer never sees the Power BI brand and may not even know they're using Power BI. In the Hosted model, reports appear as part of your product via a brandable portal with a customizable URL.
In the Hosted model, BI4SaaS handles the Power BI Embedded capacity (Azure Fabric) and its costs are included in the service. In the Template model, the customer uses their own Power BI license. Exact cost-sharing details are agreed upon in the partnership agreement.
We operate across the Nordics and broader Europe. We provide face-to-face service in Finnish and English. Our clients include companies from Finland, Sweden, and Germany. Technically, the solution works anywhere since Power BI is a cloud service.
All data is processed and stored within the EU. We comply with GDPR requirements in all data processing. In the Hosted model, data is processed on Azure servers in Europe. We sign a DPA (Data Processing Agreement) as part of the partnership when needed.
Yes. Our contract always includes the option to buy out the service for self-maintenance. In the Template model, reports are in your environment from the start. In the Hosted model, we deliver the Power BI files (.pbix) and documentation so you can continue independently or with another partner. We do not lock in customers.
Every partnership effectively starts with a pilot, since the commission model means costs only arise when the end customer pays. A typical pilot covers developing one report template for 1–5 end customers. During the pilot, you see concretely how reporting works, what it looks like, and how your customers react. Completely risk-free.
In the Hosted model, this is possible with a customized implementation. In the Template model, yes — the customer can combine data sources themselves or with our help in their own environment connected to their own systems. Power BI's strength is combining different data sources: your SaaS product's API data can be merged with Excel files, SQL databases, Google Analytics, or other systems.
In the Hosted model, we support SSO authentication (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect) and token-based authentication, allowing the report to be embedded directly in your product without separate login. Row-Level Security (RLS) ensures each customer sees only their own data.
We use Power BI's Row-Level Security (RLS) mechanism where a single report template serves all customers — each seeing only their own data. This scales to hundreds of customers without separate report copies. Azure Fabric capacity scales with load.
Yes. Power BI Embedded reports are responsive and work in mobile browsers and applications. Our customer portal also supports mobile devices. Reports can be embedded via iframe or the Power BI JavaScript SDK in native apps. Mobile optimization is done as part of report design.
